Abstract

Over the past few years, several studies have shown that the role of emotions in health has progressively gained recognition, and the acknowledgment that Emotional Intelligence (EI) is best suited to meet the demands of current healthcare systems. In the field of healthcare, emotions hold particular significance, as daily interaction with the human condition emphasizes the need for healthcare professionals to recognize and control their emotions. It is now understood that cognitive intelligence and technical skills alone are not sufficient for the success of both individuals and healthcare organizations. Success depends on the ability to communicate, flexibility, empathy, a spirit of mutual assistance, self-confidence, savoir-faire, and especially the ability to feel and understand emotions.
Keywords: emotional intelligence, mindfulness, emotional regulation, nurses.
